My Favorite Dog Breeds

Description

Since I saw a few artist drawing their favorite dog breeds a while back (original idea by :iconghoulshoe:), I really wanted to do my own. I'm not too pleased with the outcome, because I tried to draw them more realistic and failed completely. v_v' I've been having a slight "style-crisis" anyway... I don't want my style to be too realistic, yet not too cartoony. It's complicated.

But yeah! Dogs!

1. German shepherd dogs have been my all-time favorite since I was a little kid. I loved all shows that included alsatians (Kommissar Rex, GNG's John, Buck from The Call of the Wild I know he's not a GSD but totally looks like one and so I thought as a kid) and so on.

2. Dutch shepherd. Because tiger-striped dogs are cool. And these are intelligent working dogs.

3. Along German shepherds, huskies have been the second best breed ever. In 2007 I visited in a husky farm in Kuusamo of Finland and immidiately fell in love with them forever! Before that I wasn't seen much huskies in real life and never had a chance to even pet one. I wanna go back there and see those cuties again. ;W;
ALSO I love malamutes but didn't remember to draw it and had to make space for other kind of breeds.

4. Caucasian ovcharka is one of the newest favorites of mine. Because of our family's first dog was a big dog, I've always loved big, fluffy and flop-eared dogs. Unfortunately I haven't drawn them much because when I started drawing properly, I was too fond with wolves and point-eared dogs and couldn't even draw anything else. I'm trying to make a change to that. I like caucasian's nature and adore the fact they are still very primitive dogs.

5. East siberian laika. This breed has always been one of my favorites, but not very "visible". I still need to get to know the breed better, but I think they look very handsome and are versatile hunting dogs.

6. Swedish vallhund. My own dog served me as a reference/model for drawing this. I'm not a fan of small dogs, but after getting Devi I changed my mind and fell in love with these hyper-energetic and noisy stumplegs. :XD:
If you want a dog that never gets tired and is always ready for a long walk/play and keeps everyone alarmed of it's presence, I recommend getting a viking dog!

7. Collie. They're so pretty and (usually)good-natured dogs that I couldn't possibly not like them. We've had collies in our family too (my big brother had a smooth collie, my aunt had many rough collies and my friend has two smoothies). :3 I'd like to own a collie someday. I like the tricolored coat the most but blue merle is also a nice coloring.

8. Borzois are sooo cool, fast and sharp-eyed dogs. owo With the Afghan hound and saluki, this is my most favorite sight hound breed. I'd like to own a borzoi someday.

9. Pastor Garafíano. One of the newest favorites of mine. Looks cute and what I read from wikipedia, seems like a good dog. I'd like to know about them more.

10. White shepherd dog. One of the newest favorites. Related to German shepherds and seems like a good dog (excluding the ones that has issues with health or nature).

11. Belgian shepherd Groenendael. I also like tervueren, but groenendael wins with it's coloring mostly. I love black dogs and especially long-haired dogs! They seem like good working dogs.

12. Nova Scotia duck tolling retriever. My very first own dog was a toller and I colored this the way he was. Lovely dogs, but very stubborn. ´|3
I miss him so much...

12. Landseer. Our family's first dog was a landseer and she's the reason why I adore big BIG dogs. So friendly, patient, calm, safe and doesn't even drool much. They're reliable dogs who doesn't hesitate to defend their family when needed (example: my dad told me that our dog chased away a german shepherd that threatened him on a walk and later two dobermans - Our dog slapped only once the other dobbie with her front paw and they both run away). Maybe I'll get a landseer when I'm older and am living in detached house.

Funny, I just realized that most of the breeds I drew are herding dogs. But can't really help it, I like intelligent, strong and confident dogs.
The least I like Toy dogs (lap-dogs) and terriers. As a child I wanted a west highland white terrier or scottish terrier but I had no clue what kind of nature they have back then. I would never get either of those nowadays. :'D
